hey all! Well this was a good week. Valles is the hottest part in the mission, this last summer, it got up to 137 degrees, but right now its not too bad, but don't think that it's cold. I almost fainted on my second day, it was my fault i had barely been taking any water, and the heat destroyed me. But i was all fine. My comp is a stud, he´s from Sinaloa. We are going to have some good times together and a lot of good work, as long as we put in the efforts. But the highlight of the week was def CONFERENCE! Oh man, the living prophets that we have today, they speak scripture. Love, love, love, guidance of the spirit and some more love. It was amazing. Elder Holland never slows down and his discourses are always top notch with enthusiasm, I remember when he came to visit us in the MTC, marvellous. Also after the Sunday afternoon session we went to a appt, a taxista (eng?) who we had contacted going somewhere. We went with him, and at the end of the lesson he said hes been looking for a congregation that would help his whole family, and that he wanted them together. Man! Just so legit isn't it? When you put in the efforts the Lord does the rest. There is no doubt. We also are teaching Vivi and Jorge, a young family who Vivi actually contacted us, shouted at us from the street and said she wanted us to visit them. The tender mercies of the Lord. Can you really deny them? I can wish i was a better person, or i can do something about it. In Mexico, They say by tradition that Jesus oir God was quoted saying ¨ayudate para que te pueda ayudar¨ or help yourself so that i can help you. May not be quoted doctrine, but a true one. When we do the small and simple things, we qualify for the help of the Lord. If i don't live the law of chastity, how can i expect investigators too? If parents don't demonstrate openly there love for the spouse and kids, why will there kids and spouse love them? I hope and pray we can all love a little more. love is the motive of everything. I do love you all soo much, i love the support i receive (though slowing down haha) and i love the examples you have all been. have a great week.
Elder Redfern
Hola!
Conference was amazing yes, but let me be COMPLETELY honest, I didn't get as much out of it as I would have liked to, the Spanish is still a toughy (I can communicate well when we are in conversation but to listen to a talk is different). My favorite part was the choir because it was in English!!! Plus it really isn't the same when you can hear their voices, I shouldve been more grateful before, man I wanna hear Elder Hollands over again, in English of course :). We ended up seeing a miracle this weekend, we offered to bring some member kids to the Saturday session. And again, let me be honest, it tried my patience, still so not ready to be a mom. But it was a blessing, when their parents came to get them they came with the desire to stay for the second session, the dad (who is not a member) was the one who really wanted to stay! I gave them a piece of paper to write questions or things they liked and one of the questions was from Lucas, the dad, “can you be baptised as an adult?” We were like YES, he is totally ready. We went to visit the next day and programmed him to be baptised this month! I wish you could all see how happy his wife was, it was wonderful. Sorry I don't have a lot of time to write today. But I want you to know, I love this work. I love you all. I hope all is well.
Keep the faith!!!
